DESPISED BIRTHRIGHT

Text, Gen Chapter 25vs27-34
Someone has said that words uttered in desperate hour are not usually the right choice of words. In times of adversity, a man is known to have spoken blasphemous words. In desperate times of the children of Israel on their way to the land of promise, they repeatedly blasphemed God. At some point, they forgot all the privileges they had enjoyed from the almighty God.

Our passage today exposes the frailty of some men in times of hunger and other circumstances of life. Here was Esau, the firstborn of Isaac. His position in Isaac’s family was not in contention. Sadly, he did not value what he had. This accounted for the ease with which he flung it for temporary satisfaction of hunger. Unfortunately, he did not even realize the incalculable harm he had done to himself. The bible said, he did eat and drink and rose up and went away {verse 34}.

In our Christian journey, The devil daily plot on how to cause an accident. Cases abound of believers who where once vibrant but today have been defeated by the temper just for a fleeting moment of enjoyment. Some believers have gone into unequal yoke in marriage; some have abandoned the bible for dubious money-making gains. Some, who have even been deceived to exchange their rich experience in the lord are today seeking to reclaim them with tears, without success

As believers, we should esteem our inheritance in the the lord higher and above every other thing which the devil brandishes. The bible says, what shall it profit a man if he shall gain the whole world and lode his own soul

As we go about our daily business, we should watch and pray to be able to identify the strategies of the enemy and to carefully avoid them. It is unwise if not foolish to mortgage our eternal inheritance for a mere mess of portage.

Simply put these into thought as you journey today, LORD, HELP ME TO VALUE MY INHERITANCE IN YOU.
